This collection contains class and lecture notes for couses taught by Dr. Jack Greising primarily in United States history and the Reformation, with particular emphasis on Martin Luther. The collection also includes Greising's dissertation, "The Status of Confessional Conservatism: Background and Issues in the Lutheran Church -- Missouri Synod (1972)." The collection also contains records of the Northern Michigan University School of Arts and Sciences Advisory Council, including department bylaws.

Dr. Jack H. Greising was a professor of history at Northern Michigan University. He received his Ph.D. in history from St. Louis University.
